When I go to check my email account it is not password protected. I have entered a password when I did the setup. but does not ask for my pass word.
Yes, that is the expected behaviour, eM Client is an offline client, you can disable the saved authentication in your account settings - however note your password is saved locally on your computer, and allows you to use the account constantly, by disabling the authentication, you would be prompted for password with each synchronisation - that can get a bit annoying.
