I can see no way of sending an e mail to multiple recipients using my contact list to enter the addresses. Help would be very much appreciated

New distribution list is what you are looking for…right click in the folders window of your contacts list.

Or, if your using folders to organize your contacts, you can send a message to all contacts in a particular folder. Works the same as distribution lists (as far as I know), but can be easier for example with GMail contacts (Google labels are treated as folders in emClient).
