Moving to v 11? Yes or No?

I am not sure if I should try v 11. Considering the number of unresolved bugs in years for the previous version and the number of posts in this forum about issues in the 11, it sounds like a risky move. Besides, from the highlights of the new version, nothing very exciting to me. This AI obsession is getting out of hand and although I used it a lot in my daily workflow I don’t see. the need of making it the main focus in all new versions of everything.

So, for the folks who did the move… what’s the verdict?

Well, the AI inclusion isn’t really going to help me, because it’s been so long coming that I found a way around it. I simply created my own email server inside OpenClaw, and I download every email in every folder all the time, work on them with much more powerful AI tools, and then I use the emClient to send them. I have several dedicated agents who only work with EmClient and our company CRM. The two bugs that I’ve been hoping would be resolved for a long time—years, in fact—still don’t seem to have been addressed. The deduplicator tool that doesn’t leave a copy behind (it does, but it is marked as deleted, so no other device can see it - which is the same thing), and the cut-and-paste function that leaves an open dialog box on the screen.

Has anybody found any new functions that are to die for?

For myself personally uaing V11, yes there is some small glitches but overall using the Mac and Windows latest versions seems pretty good to me.and I would recommend upgrading to it.

Ps The Natural Language search works very well from the testing I’ve done with the AI part. See the below blog link for features of eM Client 11

Do you, or someone else, mind to check two points for me in v11? Does dragging tasks from the side panel to the calendar in the main panel works?

When you edit a task just added in the side panel, does it still returns an error (reported to the two years ago and still happening,…)?

No you carn’t drag a Task in the right sidebar directly into the main Calendar with V11. I don’t believe its ever been designed to do that and is merely only a way to view them.

There is a Sleekplan suggestion you can vote for below to do that.

When you edit a task just added in the side panel, does it still returns an error (reported to the two years ago and still happening,…)?

Yes i can edit the task & save it ok in the right sidebar without any errors in V11. I was also able to do that with previous versions of eM Client as well using eg: Google & Outlook accounts.

So if you carn’t do that in V9 or V10 would need to know what error you are getting and what account type & server you have and any threads on that issue if you can link them.

I alreadz voted. Like, three years ago. It might seems like a feature, but it’s so obvious that I see it as a bug.

About the second point, it’s a known bug. Ok, thanks. Definitely staying in 10 then.

Have you got a thread to that issue with editing the task you are having in V10 ?

Also have you ever contacted official support about that issue ?

I had a trouble ticket, not a forum thread. They were able to replicate the issue, but nothing came out of it. After some months and a a few updates, I brought the subject up again and again, they recognized there was a bug which had to be solved, but never did.

Ok suggest then if you have already tried the latest V10.4.5674 and still a problem, I would relogin to the support page and resubmit a new ticket and “link your old ticket to it” for reference.

Alternatively suggest to update to V11 as there has been a lot of updates and fixes in that so more than likely whatever it was is fixed in that.

Personally as I am only on the one time charge I can not see anything startling in this release that would cause me to pay another $70 CAD + tax for version 11 of emClient

Before I bother downloading and installing v11, is it able to sync a calendar using CalDAV?

@Doofus

Before I bother downloading and installing v11, is it able to sync a calendar using CalDAV?

Yes I sync a iCloud CalDAV calendar and it works fine. The CalDAV calendar setup is still the same.

I have a lifetime license that includes updates and I am sure there are thousands of other lifetime license users of emClient - the AI addition is a way of making the lifetime supporters of emClient start paying an annual rental fee - a subscription - and I have seen other software that has the AIs programmed to eat as many credits as possible, sometimes by creating an error that needs the AI (credits) to correct it. No. I am not going to upgrade unless I can use it without the AI baggage.

You don’t have to use AI at all if you don’t want to.

If you have a V11 subscription then AI option can be disabled via going to “Menu / Settings / Artificial Intelligence / Features / General”.

If you purchase a “One Time payment” upgrade option on the Pricing page (and not a subscription) then the AI Addon is optional and not included.

Is there a post trailing the bugs and issues that have been raised, along with comments, fixes, or advice?

In the upgrade installation it asked me whether I wanted all AI features, user activated AI features, or no AI. I chose no AI. I checked according to the advice from cyberzork above and it was disabled.

Generally good to work with, no massively new things though.
MS Graph sync is new and still buggy, every now and then it cannot sync a elsewhere deleted item and freezes up the sync for good, gotta delete account and add again.
EmSync is new and works well, just wondering about security, no passkey of MFA support.
Everything else seems same as before from my perspective.
I don’t give 2 cents about AI.
