On my 1920 x 1080 screen, the calendar never shows my entire work day. I can see, for example, 10 AM to 5:30 PM, but have to scroll to see an earlier appointment. I wish I could choose a more compact view that would show 8 AM to 6 PM without scrolling. Might seem like a small thing, but I’d prefer it, and it’s what the default Google calendar does allow.

you can simply adjust your daily calendar in Calendar settings - field “Show range”. Setting the range to 12 hours or to “Work day” should work perfectly for you.
You can access it in Tools > Settings > Calendar > General
