Mobile apps: is the beta period over?

I have just seen the new blog post announcing the arrival of the new mobile app (Mobile App: now with AI, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes | eM Client) and I have a question which isn’t answered there.

I have been testing the beta versions on both Android phone and iPad. Has the beta period officially ended now with the public launch of the new mobile apps?

Should I replace my beta versions with the current version from the App store / playstore? Or should I carry on using the Testflight and Android beta versions?

Cheers
Owen

Yeah the app with calendar is finally officially out, so if you want a stable release I would recommend to leave the beta program and install the official build. If you want to have the latest features with smaller guarantee of stability, you can stick with the beta program. The beta program won’t be terminated, but it is going to be just for experimental use in the future.

Still can’t delete a message in the iPad app.

If the message is not showing online in your webmail, then “press on the folder” in the app and then press “properties” at the bottom. Then press Repair which should remove it in the app.

Cyberzork,

What?! Listen, I appreciate your help as always and the workaround. However, it shouldn’t be that involved. The messages are allegedly downloaded to my iPad as they show in the message queue. However, the inability to simply slide to the right and delete the message is concerning. It has been this way for months and the developers haven’t fixed it.

Thankfully, everything seems to be working on the iOS end.

To delete an iPad / iPhone eM Client iOS message you actually “slide it to the left and not the right”. Sliding it to the right only flags or unflags it.

If Sliding to the left doesnt delete, then as I advised run the repair on the folder as you might have an app database issue causing it not to delete.

Or go to the “Menu / Settings / Import-Export” and “export to XML”. Then uninstall the app and reinstall the official app and reimport the XML file.

And what exactly happens? I am a bit confused, you say it does not work on iPad and then you say: Thankfully, everything seems to be working on the iOS end. Can you share a video? Do you see a delete icon when you do a swipe gesture?

No, I see the problem…

Apple Mail lets you slide your finger across the message, and the delete option comes up.

In eMClient, you have to press down and slide.

So, my apologies, I misspoke. It is working, just not as I expected, but that’s not my problem.

Thanks for the assistance

Michal,

Is there a reason why the delete key could not have been applied to make it easier to delete an email?

Are you referring the delete key on an external eg: B/T keyboard with the eM Client iOS or Android app ?

Or are you referring to the desktop client del key ?

The del key for emails on the desktop client already works. If yours doesn’t, go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Shortcuts” and check the Del key is assigned.

If you are using an external B/T keyboard with the iOS or Android app, the delete key “is not supported as yet” as well as the arrow keys & some other external keyboard keys as @Michal_Burger advised in the following thread.

Hi Cyberzork!

I think the thing that threw me off about the iPad OS 26 eMClient app not being able to delete a message was the manner in which you had to delete the message.

You can’t just hit the delete key, which would be the most intuitive thing to do, to delete a message. I am wondering why that could not be mapped into the software.

Of course, this would be using a Bluetooth keyboard or the Apple Magic Keyboard.

A simple swipe delete when using the iPad was another missed opportunity. In Apple Mail, you swipe your finger to delete the message.

The way eMClient has it set up is that you have to press down during the swipe. That is what threw me off and the reason behind mistakingly thinking deletion was not working.

@NJRonbo

A simple swipe delete when using the iPad was another missed opportunity. In Apple Mail, you swipe your finger to delete the message.

The way eMClient has it set up is that you have to press down during the swipe.

Using my two M1 iPads with Sequoia & now OS26 using eM Client V10.3.3670, I don’t press down and swipe. I just gently / touch swipe it to delete, the same as in any other Apple mail apps.

So could be the iPad OS “Accessibility press and hold settings” have been adjusted on your iPad. See the Apple extract and “link info below” how to check that and adjust to see if that fixes it.

If adjusting the press and hold settings or other settings in that Apple link doesn’t fix it, then could be your iPad eg: might just need a reboot, or the screen might need cleaning, or if you have a protective cover of the screen that might be interfering with the gentle touch / swipe action.

Extract below from Apple support page OS26.

“Adjust settings for taps, swipes, and multiple touches”

“Go to Settings / Accessibility / Touch / Touch Accommodations, then turn on Touch Accommodations”.

“You can configure iPad to do any of the following”

  • Respond to longer or shorter touches: Turn on Hold Duration, then tap the Decrement - or + button to adjust the duration.

  • Prevent unintended swipe gestures: If you turn on Hold Duration (above), you can increase the amount of movement required before a swipe gesture begins. Tap Swipe Gestures, turn on Swipe Gestures, then adjust required movement.
