Mass mail + variable salutation

Hello all,
I want to use mass mail with variables, for example {salutation}.
I would like to use the salutation from contacts within the eM client, but unfortunately the salutation is not available there: >contact >details >add personal detail >drop down opens >salutation is visible, but greyed. What can I do to activate it?
kind regards, Sven

What service provider do you use? If you cannot add salutation and other contacts field, it id highly probable these fields are not supported by your server provider.

I work with Microsoft Exchange. When I use Outlook with access to the same database as for eM-Client, this field ist available, editable, savable (storable) and reusable. Does it answer your question?

I changed my system language to English. With that you get a new screenshot:

  • “Anrede” is “salutation”

By the way: I do not understand why “Nickname” in the drop down is greyed, whereas the field Nickname is filled with “Lieber Schnuffel 2” (see screenshot). This looks like a mismatch of fields

Hi Sven,

We only show the fields that the server/protocol will let us synchronize.
The EWS (Exchange Web Services) protocol does not let us upload the Salutation field, it’s read-only, so we disabled it from the list of details to add for contacts saved in EWS accounts, as not to create confusion when the specific detail is NOT synchronized back to the server and other contact apps.

The options that are already visible are also greyed out from the list, since they can be added only once.
If you click the Nickname field and then use the X on the right side to remove it, it will be black in the selection list again if you want to Add it back to the visible details:

But I also think there has been a slight misunderstanding, while WE translate the field Salutation as Anrede

Outlook seems to call it TITLE

Which would be PREFIX on our side.
This field is HIDDEN for Exchange accounts right now but next update (10.4.4284 or higher) will have a fix to show it and have it editable. It will be visible under the “Full Name” section of the contact

Hi Olivia,
thank you very much for your detailled and competent reply. Very good! - I am looking forward to the new update with prefix and suffix visible in the emC. For the time being I will use a workaround by using the suffix as a field for salutation.
I would like to add an Idea: Formerly I was using a Thunderbird add-in, allowing me to send mass mails first into my outbox. There it was waiting for the final review. This is sometimes helpful, in order to check and correct the outcome before sending out the mails finally. Will there also be an additional possibility in the future to send mass mails with a csv-file, providing for example salutation, given name, surname and additional placeholders for individual text phrases/paragraphs for further individualized mass mails? The headlines of each column of the csv-file would be the variables taken over in the email text. This would be relatively simple and easy to use.
kind regards, Sven
