Coming from Outlook Desktop (Classic) I want to replicate what I have done for decades: CTRL-ENTER deposits a finished mail in my outbox. Once I am ready to send, I want to be able to manually decide when to send all mails in the outbox and to do so by pressing F9 or CTRL-M.
How do I make sure mails in the outbox are only sent, when I want it? Currently, I can only set a sync time (have set it to max which is 10 minutes).
And how do I set up dual shortcuts with same the function? The last question is relevant also to replying, as I in Outlook are used to ALT-R and CTRL-R having the same function.
Hi, you can turn off the automatic sync, not just set it to 10 minutes, in menu - settings - general - general, by unchecking it.
If you turn it off and then also turn off sending messages immediately in menu - setings - mail -send (send with sync interval instead, which is turned off - so it does not happen), you can have the messages waiting in outbox until you manually use the refresh or send all option.
Ctrl+Enter does work for “Send” shortcut, and with the previous setting it will put the message into Outbox.
Unfortunately the Refresh shortcut is set to f5 and cannot be changed right now.
Thank you. I got this working. It seems that also disables that mail arrives in the inbox until I use F5. In Outlook I have continuous flow of incoming mail and only manage my outgoing mail manually. Can something similar be obtained with EMC?
IMAP and Exchange accounts should download new messages even with the sync interval turned off.
But for POP accounts you would unfortunately need to have the sync interval enabled, there is no setting to separate the automatic sync for POP and SMTP protocol, unfortunately.
To manually receive POP messages without sending the ones in Outbox you’d need to use the “Receive all” option under Refresh drop-down menu. But this option does not have its own shortcut.
