mailto url link in IE11 is broken.

When clicking
on a mailto link in IE11 instead of a new EM email a new browser window opens with the mailto:xxx in the address bar.

  • Em Client is set as the default mail client in windows, with the mailto box checked

  • Using Run>mailto:xxx gives the same result

  • The same mailto link used in Chrome works fine

IE version: 11.0.9600.17358

Windows version: 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Chrome version: 38.0.2125.104 m

Any ideas how to solve this?
