all of a sudden, eM Client will not pull in my gmails. Settings look ok. Calendar refreshes just fine
If you haven’t changed anything and its still not connecting to Gmail, if you haven’t already try rebooting your computer and modem and any switches etc. Might be some sort of current OS or hardware glitch.
If rebooting everything makes no difference, then could be some background program interference. So if you have any eg: optionally installed firewall / security programs, or optionally installed antivirus programs or vpn’s, try completely disabling those to test.
Apart from that we would need to know what your Gmail incoming and outgoing mail settings are. Also if you are using Gmail as normal IMAP or as POP. So go to “Menu / Accounts” (Pc) or “eM Client / Accounts” (Mac) and update this thread with that info. Blank out anything personal.
Lastly also what version of eM Client are you running and what OS (Pc or Mac) you have, and what OS version.
The same thing happened to me. eM Client keeps saying “Connection failed” and showing the failed symbol even though it downloads the email just not quickly and attachments even more slowly. I’m running two accounts through eM Client and the other account is just fine. I believe it started happening the last time I updated eM Client. I’ve checked and I’m up to date. I’ve also checked Google for what my settings should be and some of those are a little different from what eM Client offers.
My settings are:
IMAP
Host: imap.gmail.com
Port 993
Security: Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
eM Client doesn’t seem to have separate settings for SSL & TLS though Google instructions are for separate settings.
I haven’t tried going to POP since I haven’t used it in the past plus I want consistency between my computer and my phone and I’m under the impression that IMAP is the way to go for that.
SMPT
Host: smtp.gmail.com
Port 587
Security: Force usage of SSL/TLS
I’ve played with the settings and Gmail stops working altogether. I have to return to those settings for it to work. It sends just fine but then the sent email doesn’t appear in eM Client for a long time. I can immediately go to the Gmail website and the email is there but it hasn’t shown up in my sent folder for some time.
That’s a log of info but I’m hopeful there might be a solution on the forum.

Your Gmail IMAP settings are correct, so “as your other IMAP account is working as you advised”, then “i would try removing and re-adding your Gmail account that is not working” via the automatic email wizard. Make sure you click “Allow” in the browser popup at the end to allow eM Client access to your Gmail account.
Go to “Menu / Accounts” (Pc) or “eM Client / Accounts” (Mac) and click “Add Account” at the top.
“Setup eM Client with Google Workspace”

Alternatively if you have been doing regular eM Client backups either automatically via eM Client Settings or Manually backing up regularly, you can try restoring a recent dated backup via “Menu / File / Restore” (Pc) or “File / Restore” (Mac). So if everything was working ok when you last backed up, then that would also normally fix the problem.
Also if you do try restoring a recent IMAP account eM Client backup, any new emails since the backup will shortly appear once eM Client re-connects to your Mail servers.

If you were on a POP Gmail account, then that would be the problem and you would need to look at changing to IMAP as per the eM Client blog article in May 2022 on Google & the new secure OAuth login. (Google ‘less secure apps’ access and what it means for eM Client | eM Client).
