Mail not sent when VPN is on - error message

This problem is recent. I have not been able to send mail when the VPN is on, which is, really, all the time. The problem goes away immediately when I turn it off,

Error message : An attempt to connect to (my address) failed. this could be caused by temporary server unavailability or incorrect settings. Do you want to check the settings?

You need to contact your VPN Provider to see how to ā€œconfigure your VPNā€ to allow eM Client to work.
