Lost All Attachments After Archiving

I recently tried out eM Client after being frustrated with the way Outlook 2013 would handle IMAP functions.

Everything was great until I tried out the Archive feature in eM Client.  As of now, all of my emails that have been archived that are over 365 days old have lost/corrupted their attachments (they are showing up as code in the bottom of the message).

I tried to move some of these emails back onto the server and tried to open them through webmail and Outlook and they are still corrupt.

Is there anyway to recover these emails or did eM Client just destroy over 5 years of messages because it wasn’t smart enough to figure out what attachments are??

Please help!!!

Thanks,

Brennan

Hi Brennan, what version of eM Client are you currently using?
What mail service are you using with eM Client?

Thank you,
Paul.

Newest version as of last night (first time downloading the program).

The mail service is through our ISP (which is eventually hosted through megamailservers.com).

Its a standard IMAP/POP email account that has worked with practically all the other email applications. I only made the switch from Outlook 2013 because it has issues updating the IMAP folders properly (PUSH didn’t work and IMAP folders would always have to be manually updated by selecting another folder and returning to that one). This is a known problem by Microsoft and they aren’t too concerned with IMAP support.

Windows 8 Mail worked fine but you couldn’t have a HTML signature, so I took the plunge and tried out eM Client. I liked the way the interface looked and it seemed like it would be a great fit.  Now all the emails that I archived have lost their attachments.

Please help.

Thanks,

Brennan

Can you please tell me the exact version number from Help > About, are you using the POP or the IMAP connection?
Can you make a screenshot of the issue showing the attachment as a code?

Thank you,
Paul.

Version 6.0.20648.0

Also, using IMAP.

Screenshot links attached (it was blurry when uploaded).

Thanks,

Brennan

Hi again, can you please export one of these messages containing a corrupt attachment (displayed as code), to an .eml file and send it to my email with a reference link to this forum topic?
To export the message, drag and drop the message onto a new email and it will be added as attachment.

Also can you please go to Tools > Settings > Advanced and turn on IMAP logging for the problematic account?

  1. Save the settings
  2. Restart the application
  3. Repair your mail folder containing these messages
To repair the mail folder, right click the mail folder and select Properties > Repair and click on the “Repair” button.
When you do this go back to the advanced settings window and click on “Send logs” and again send the logs to my email [email protected] with a reference link to the forum topic.

After you send the logs you can also turn off the logging.

Thank you,
Paul.
