I am using eM Cient 6.0.24928.0, wdoz 7
if i store emails in ‘local folders’, where exactly are these folders located on my PC ?? … I cannot find any information re this …
if I switch to a second computer, and want to keep / make these folders available on this second computer so i have all my prior emails at hand … how do i do this ?? again I cannot find any info re this in the help manual
I was thinking I could simply copy the ‘local folders’ to the correct spot on the second computer, if i could find out where that correct spot is !
i could not find any set-up instructions regarding how to specify where this ‘local folders’ directory should be located [ie it would seem that i should be able to set a specific local directory for this purpose]
thanx … W

- HOW CAN I BACKUP MY DATABASE TO TRANSFER ALL MY DATA TO ANOTHER COMPUTER?
The easiest way to transfer all your data including your settings to another computer is moving/copying the whole database folder. Keep in mind that eM Client must NOT be running when you access the database - it could lead to serious problems and even data loss.
- HOW CAN I CHANGE THE BACKUP INTERVAL? AND HOW CAN I SCHEDULE THE BACKUP TO OCCUR AT A PARTICULAR DATE AND TIME?
First, go to Tools – Settings – General – Backup. Make sure the box “Enable Backup” is checked. Once it is, you can set the folder where backups will be saved in, how often you want them to occur, and how many backups you want to keep (You can store up to five different backups at a time).
Then, open up the Windows “Task Scheduler” tool. Click on the Task Scheduler Library, and in the middle window you should see eM Client Database Backup, along with other tasks. Double-click on it to open the properties, and under the “triggers” tab you can edit the time and day when you want or need your backup to take place.
Click on File->Backup which will back up your entire file system and all messages. This will create a Zip file. You can then copy that file to another computer. Open eMClient and click File->Restore. This will restore all your folders and messages to the new computer. NOTE: Your program will shutdown during the backup.
You can determine/change the location of the backup file by going to Tool->Settings->General->Backup: Target Directory.
Hello,
the Local folders are stored in your database, which can be found in the location specified in Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Storage.
In eM Client 6 the Local folders are not a separate folder from the rest of the Database, in eM Client 7 they have a separate database files that you can copy.
The Local Folders need to always be inside your Database folders.
I’d suggest exporting the local messages you want to move using the File>Export function and then import them in the second computer, though.
