Do you guys think it’s worth buying a lifetime upgrade for 3 devices in 2026? v11 should not be far away..
I have 3 devices, but I’m not sure EM Client will last for many years to come so I wouldn’t want to pay for a lifetime upgrade and EM Client being discontinued next year…

I opted for the subscription license though i am not a fan of software subscription at all.
The reason behind my choice with eM Client is that i have bought software from other SW companies that later on decided to go subscription only that made my license lost all future feature updates. So in the end “lifetime” meant nothing.
For example, i bought a lifetime license some years ago for Enpass, a password manager. When Enpass decided to go subscription only my license became “Pro” but all new key features added now requires the “Premium” license. The “Premium” license is subscription only. So that lifetime license meant nothing in the end since i could not get those updates…
Similar thing happened to Macrium Reflect backup software, lifetime licenses first and then went the subscription route as well. The lifetime license got no more upgrades… The irony is that many customers switched from Acronis to Macrium Reflect only because Acronis went the subscription route some year ago. Don´t know how many of those then ditched Macrium Reflect as well when they did the same.
In short, what a software company offers and promises today means nothing in terms as future proof.
Having that said, i don´t know when/if eM Client will go subscription only, but i do know that all software companies can change those things fast.
I don´t think that eM Client will be discontinued. Microsoft is killing Outlook Classic and eM Client seems to be a great replacement for Outlook Classic, hopefully meaning that the cash flow in the future is looking very good for eM Client. I am one of those that migrates from Outlook Classic to eM Client due to Microsofts bad decision to kill Outlook Classic.

Yes I personally think it’s worth paying for the upgrade to lifetime licence. You will save a lot of money in the long run.

You can never guarantee any company will be there in the future but I personally never worry about that and if i like a program I buy it anyway.
eM Client has been around for along time and has lots of happy paid home & business / commercial customers with great reviews which drives sales and keeps development going so I don’t believe it will be discontinued anytime soon.
