Latest update problem today

after downloading today’s (3/30/2021) update, when eMclient reloads, I get an overlay of an empty box that says “password required for”. I am unable to open any emails…HELP! I even tried to create a new account even tho I have had eMclient for years

If you are comfortable executing these steps, give this a try:

(1) Delete any installation files you have downloaded.
(2) Uninstall eM Client, making sure not to delete your database directory when asked. This will ensure your settings and data remain in place.
(3) If it exists, delete C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client
(4) Download and install the latest version from the Release History.
(5) The latest version of eM Client should then start with all your data in place.

oh yikes…where do I find the installation files I downloaded? I think I can do the rest…

If the installation file was downloaded it more than likely ended up in your browser download directory. If not there just proceed…

download not showing in browser downloads. Do I uninstall eMclient from cont. panel or C programs?

Are you sure you feel comfortable doing this?

Uninstall via Windows 10 Settings > Apps > Apps & Features

no but how else will it get fixed?? I have windows 7 still so now what

I have not used Windows 7 in years and have no memory of how it differs from Windows 10 (growing old has its downside).

The Control Panel may be the way to uninstall, but be careful you don’t delete the database…

BTW, for the record, I am not an eM Client employee, just a volunteer!

Thanks for trying to help. Trying to uninstall via cont. panel but getting msg “please wait until the current program is finished uninstalling or being changed”?. I have not seen any notice to be careful not to delete database

What version of eM Client are you running ?

If you are trying to run the latest eM Client V8.x build, then I suspect Windows 7 is the issue as would probably not have the OS backend support due to eg: might be missing alot of stuff that eM Client needs to work / function properly.

Windows 7 is also no longer supported by Microsoft for along time now and no longer secure to run anyway. Need to upgrade to Win 10.

8.2.1193.0 I know 7 no longer is supported but everything was working fine until I downloaded the update this morning. if I could find the little bugger, I would uninstall it

Here is a link to a Microsoft article about how to uninstall a program in Windows 7.

Perhaps that will help you “find the little bugger”.
Hopefully, you have a backup of pre-v8.2 database in case it was damaged/modified.
Good luck…

the blank box finally filled in with a place to provide a password. It’s working fine now. FM or smoke and mirrors? Thanks for all your help!!!

Me and my friends have been running eM Client on Windows 7 with no issue at about 20 computers.
The only slight issue is delayed scrolling of some e-mails in preview pane. But it doesn’t mind.

Downloaded update this morning 3/31/2021 and I cannot open my email at all. Nothing. So even if you e-mail a “FIX”, I can not open it. What do I have to do to fix this latest screwup by eclient!

Does this mean you cannot open eM Client, or once eM Client is running you cannot open an email?
