Lame exchange connection

new user. win10
took 3 attempts to connect to ms exchange (at least one of the exchanges, perhaps the wrong one). I don’t know how emclient wound up connecting as well as it does, since emclient never asked for, not did i give a outlook.com password.

after connecting, about 20 minutes later it synced all-day appts. It hasn’t synced any timed appts.
also, all day appts entered or changed in emclient sync to iphone (through exchange) but all day appts entered or changed on iphone don’t sync to emclient.

perhaps emclient autosyncs to the older exchange system (ews?) which doesn’t sync timed appts. Outlook auto connects to the newer exchange service and works ok, except over the last couple of months I have been inflicted with the same outlook exchange issue that has affected many users: It constantly disconnects and asks for password. so I am looking for a new calendar (and perhaps email) app.

any ideas about why emclient is having this syncing issue?

i closed emclient. when i reopened it , timed appts appeared in calendar. I don’t know if emclient doesn’t auto sync, or it is something else.

however, there still seems to be a lack of syncing from iphone to emclient on computer. new timed, all-day appts or changes don’t make it to emclient on computer.

btw; iphone is using the apple calendar with exchange account.

That is because you can no longer use username/password logins for Microsoft accounts.

Please see this blog page we posted 2 years ago when Microsoft announced the change: Microsoft disables Basic authentication for all accounts | eM Client

Also, Microsoft no longer allow you to connect to Outlook.com accounts using Exchange. You will need to follow the instructions and setup the account automatically as in the link above.

gary, emc connects to microsoft without asking for password. contrary to emc page that you referred me to, microsoft didn’t ask for password either, just asked if I would emc permission. perhaps it took password from the outlook calendar page that was already open in browser.

iac, seems that I can’t create a calendar item on iphone, and have it appear in emc on computer. I can create on computer>appears on iphone> modify on iphone> modifies on computer; but can’t originate from iphone.

btw: i had the old/new exchange letters wrong. the old system was EAS (active sync). the new system is/was(?) EWS. whatever, it doesn’t work reliably with installed with office outlook.
