Jump from Message in Inbox to Your Sent Reply?

After you have replied to a message in your inbox, is there a way to open the original message in your inbox and jump directly to your reply? If I have to send additional information or follow up with someone, I prefer to reply to the latest message in the chain, so parts of the conversation don’t get lost. But, searching up my sent messages takes a lot longer than just looking in my inbox. Inside a received message, is there a button I can click to go straight to the reply I sent?

Hi Richard,
there’s a possibility, right click the recipient in the message details and select communication history and open the last message you’ve replied to that person (or he replied to you), then click reply and the last email will be included in the chain as well.

Hope this helps,
Paul.

Awesome, thanks Paul! That is super helpful. On later editions, it would be very helpful to have a one-click option (cut some time/easier to find), but this is way better than scrolling through sent emails. Thanks!

No problem, if you have any other questions or issues, let us know, we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you,
Paul.

Paul, it’s not working for me.  I have two “sent” folders.  One in “Local Folders” and one for my main email address.  I have moved some of the respective messages from local to my sent folder to no avail.  Any ideas?

Why don’t the threads show both directions in and out?  I don’t know of any mail client that does that.

Thanx … Dave

Hi David, not completely sure what you’re referring to, if you hit reply on an existing message, all the content of that message will be included in your reply.

Thank you,
Paul

Sorry Paul.  This has to do with grouping all email on a thread together.  If you’re looking at a message in your inbox, it would be great to be able to get to the reply message somehow.  I thought that the “communication history” option would do it, but it only shows inbound messages.

Hi David, sorry for the misunderstanding, conversation view is not supported in eM Client. The communication history window displays all incoming and outgoing communication between you and the selected contacts.

Note however you can filter the incoming or outgoing communication as well as chat history by using the buttons next to the filter bar.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Paul, thanx for your time on this and I really love your application.  Conversation view is a nice feature, but not a “really must have”.  Do you think that eM will support that in the future?

My issue with the history is that when I filter, there are no sent items on the list.  I have verified that the message is in the Sent folder with the correct address.  I even use the address of the sent message, but it doesn’t show up on the list.  Would screen shots or something else help?

Thanx again … Dave

Hi again, what version of eM client are you currently using on your computer? Can you please check for the exact version number in Help > About?

Thank you,
Paul

Version 6.0.21372.0

Hi David, unfortunately I’m unable to replicate the issue you’re referring to, can you please make a screenshot of the message you’re failing to find in the communication history in eM Client as well as the communication history window for that contact?

Thank you,
Paul
