I’ve been using eM Client on both Mac and Windows for about two weeks now and overall, I’m very satisfied. However, I’ve noticed something odd: the avatars/icons displayed next to emails don’t match the ones I previously saw in Outlook (Outlook OWA).
This is particularly strange with my employees - some very old and unusual pictures are being shown.
Together with my IT specialist, I’ve already tried to trace the source of these images, but unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find it.
Personally, this doesn’t bother me too much, but I’m concerned that my customers - if they also use eM Client - might see these outdated images of my employees and me.
If your Avatars are not updating from your remote Outlook domain or other Outlook.com site or Other website domain via the fav icon, then you can clear the local avatar cache by disabling the downloading of Avatars in “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / Contacts / Avatars” and disable downloading avatars from external sources.
Then save settings. Then go back into Settings and re-enable that. It can then take up to 30days to change as per the following eM Client webpage. However my own remote Avatar updated in approx 48hrs.
You can also create a Global Avatar via eg: the Gravatar site and link that to your email account in eM Client.
Lastly if you are referring to other senders avatars not showing or are changing next to their received mail, that usually means “the senders are doing that their end” unless you have some eg: corruption in your local eM Client database
