I am currently using eM Client and have encountered an issue with the search function.
Specifically, I am unable to search emails using Chinese keywords. When I search in English, the results appear correctly, but Chinese searches return no results, even though I am certain that relevant emails exist.
I have already checked the search scope and ensured that the emails are present in my folders. However, the issue persists.
Could you please advise:
- Whether eM Client fully supports Chinese search and indexing?
- If there are any settings or steps (such as rebuilding the database) required to enable proper Chinese search?
- Whether this is a known limitation or bug?
I would appreciate your guidance on how to resolve this issue.

As it’s only a problem with Chinese searches, then yes it could be eM Client needs and update. Other forum users or moderators etc who use Chinese language might comment on this thread.
So suggest if you installed eM Client directly from the website, “you can check if you have the latest version” for whatever you have currently installed via the release history page just incase you have an older or outdated version.
Note: If there is a later eM Client version “before updating” make a manual backup via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when the backup is complete in “Show Operations” via the dropdown on the right of Refresh. Also close eM Client before updating.
If you already have the latest version, then “if you have only just installed eM Client and are within your 30day trial” then send an email to [email protected] to see if this is a known issue and if there is any fix / update for that. Also include what version of eM Client you are using and if you have Windows or Mac.
If you are outside the initial 30day trial period “and have a current active paid Pro, Personal or Business version”, then go to the VIP support page and login and lodge a support ticket also with your version of eM Client and if you have Windows or Mac.
