Is there an option to completely remove the message header?

I don’t want to shrink the size of the message header. I want to completely get rid of it as unnecessary repetition. It takes up far too much precious screen space, and is useless to me. YMMV.

As a highly configurable email client, it seems that it would be fairly easy to just program a toggle switch to have or not to have the (damned) header?

Unfortunately that is not possible. We think that it is important to be able to at least see who the message is from, when it was sent, and what the subjects is. We also display other important data there like attachments, encryption/signed details, whether linked content is displayed or not, receipts, Notes, flags and tags, when you replied to the message, etc.

Sometimes users struggle with this when they have the message preview below the message list (Menu > View > Layout > Messages on the Bottom), which severely restricts the vertical space available to display the message list, the message header, and the message body especially on low resolution monitors or when using excessive scaling. Displaying the message preview on the right instead (Menu > View > Layout > Messages on the Right) will provide a lot more space for displaying everything.

But that is a “work around” that forces me to use a very narrow vertical window. Why can’t we just have the option to shut off a useless header. I mean useless literally. What does that damned header contain that we can’t already see elsewhere? Why are the programmers so wedded to the message header that they refuse to let their customers decide?

I suspect you are working on a very small monitor, so that is unfortunate.

At 800x600 it will look like this, which is really an unreasonable screen resolution to work with in 2023.

At 1280x800 which is probably about the lowest you will find even on cheaper laptops, it looks much better even with the right sidebar expanded, so like this:

As I said, we also display other important data there like attachments, encryption/signed details, whether linked content is displayed or not, receipts, Notes, flags and tags, when you replied to the message, etc. And more like email translations, tracking, unsubscribe.

The issue is not the display setting. I can set it as high as 1920 x 1280 and the header is still an issue. I do have my display set to 1360 x 768 because of bad eyesight. But I did try eM Client at maximum resolution, and although I could scarcely read the text, the enormous, entirely unnecessary header was still taking up way too much real estate. If you look at other forum posts, it is clear that I’m not alone in thinking this. I’m not asking that you delete it if you like it. I’m asking for an option so I can delete it, because I don’t like it. EM Client is wonderfully configurable – except for this damned header.
