Is Discobot a legitimate Forum "Bot"

Why is “Discobot” associated with the eM Client Forum?
Is it a legitimate component “Bot” of the eM Client Forum, or is it “malware” ?
It appeared when I recently joined the eM Client forum, & I subsequently received the following email :
From: Discobot via eM Client
Hey @Alanxxxx, just checking in because I haven’t heard from you in a while.

  • To continue, reply to me any time.
  • If you’d like to skip this step, say skip.
  • To start over, say start tutorial.
If you’d rather not, that’s OK too. I’m a robot. You won’t hurt my feelings. :sob:

I and my bro haven’t personally seen (any bots) on this forum. Sounds like something has possible plugged into your browser or is affecting it from something running in the background in the OS.

I would scan your pc for any spyware, malware, virus etc.

Hi cyberzok, Thank you for your reply.
Have done a Norton 360 QuickScan & a Power Eraser scan of my laptop, & also an “On-Demand” scan of the email itself, & in all cases no “threats” were found. Also did some “googling”, & discovered that apparently “Discobot” is a component of the “Discourse” Open Source “Forum Management Software” (https://www.discourse.org/) ; consequently, I suspect it is possible that it is being used for managing the eM Client Forum, which would explain my “Discobot” email. I think I will have to ask eM Client Support to confirm or discredit this suspicion.

Discobot is part of the initial setup with the forum account. It is a fun feature that gives you an interactive means to learn how to use the forum.

Hi Gary,
Thank you very much for your reply & explanation of Discobot. Confirms the “google” info.
