Intermittent connection issues

During the day I get regular connection errors for two of my mail accounts (gmail and another one). Is there a way to prevent this?

No. This is a normal thing. It regularly happens that a connection can not be established for a bunch of different reasons. emClient tries is again and again – which can theoretically be part of the problem, because to many attempts in a dedicated time frame may close connections, too.

When you track the timestamps of the log you can see, that the errors occurred within one second, two minutes later access succeeded. That’s the way it is.

@NoSi1 I kindly have to disagree. I’ve tried other mail clients, that didn’t quite work the way I needed. (i.e couldn’t create filters, calendar sync didn’t work.) But with those other clients, I never got a message about loosing connection with the gmail server. EmClient seems to work fine for a couple days, then it starts having this issue.

It finally gets to the point where email doesn’t work and the calendar is not syncing. Making it useless for me. I want to get away from Outlook with Gsuite, but because of this issue I can’t.

emClient really needs to investigate and figure out why there are so many false positive reports on loosing connection.

@guido123 I agree, this is not a normal thing. eM Client has always had issues syncing Google Calendars, for some users. And I see recently an increase in Gmail problems like yours as well. So maybe it looks like it is becoming a normal thing. But it is not normal meaning acceptable or expected.

Much has been done to improve these things in version 8. Maybe you could try the latest beta available to download from the Release History and see if there is any difference. I moved away from Google Calendar years ago because of this, but I have been testing Google Calendar with eM Client again, and so far it seems to be working as it should with the latest beta.

For me it is a “normal thing” – it happens usually in times of higher traffic. I do not have a Gmail account therefore I can not say if this can not happen there. As a general thing connections to and from servers do fail regularly if there is no route available. Because of that I – personally – would expect that it can happen with a Gmail account, too.

If there is a knowledge of fails especially with Google accounts but not generally this means vice versa, that it can not be an emClient but a Google problem.

EDIT: I noticed just now that V8 (never seen in V7) has red exclamation marks behind accounts that are not in sync. Clicking it solves this. The fact, that this is added to accounts in such a easy accessable place point (for me) to my estimation that this happens often enough to offer this.

My experience with other e-mail clients (Thunderbird, Outlook, The Bat!, …) tells – in my case – the same story: it happens and it is no tragedy.

Thanks for the reply.
I don’t seem to have any connection issues with the personal email I have setup. It maintains connections all the time.

Other clients I have used don’t have this problem. I just updated to Version 8, I hope that the yellow triangle is only a one off thing. I can’t afford to not have email working; especially now that I am working from home.
