I am keeping a copy of software program files for all installed programs on PC in case in future the software or Vendor pulls down and over cannot download the software from the web.
For eM Client I want to keep backup of each version of the software after every time I update the program.
I want to know the exact location of the eM Client Windows installation file. Going to C: Program files>Users…eM Client folder I see lots and lots of files and folders but I can’t find it there. I don’t want to fiddle anything. Can anyone tell me where the location of this installation file is on the PC?
If you downloaded the install file from eM Client website, the installation file would still be where you downloaded it - by default, it would be in your Downloads folder, but you may have downloaded it to a different location. You can copy it wherever you like.
If you can’t locate it, then establish the installed version number from eM Client Help > About, and download that version from Release History | eM Client
If you installed eM Client from the Windows Store, there is no (safe) way of backing up the install file locally.
That’s fine the initial program but what about the new updates. What about that file? We don’t typically download those, instead we click the update prompt message in eM Client. Where do we find those files for version or patch updates e.g. v10.1.45… I like to keep incremental version updates of the software program.
If that is the way you apply updates you will need to use the same procedure.
Personally I do not accept “pushed” updates I prefer to download the update
file, shut down eMC and then apply the update.
I ALWAYS run Backup before applying any updates.

Whenever there is an “incremental update”, use the same procedure - check the edition number then download that latest version from Release History | eM Client
