Incorrect date in exported mails

Hello,

I want to move all mails locally stored in a eM client DB to an IMAP server.

My problem is, that the date of the mails shown in eM client differs from the mails stored in the .eml file or copied to the IMAP server. For example, I have an email with date 08/08/2014 stored in the local eM client folder. If I export that email – I tried copying with ctrl+c -> ctrl+v AND the export function AND directly moving to the IMAP server – the date changes to “Sat, 30 Aug 2014 08:17:38 +0000”. This happens with almost all my email.

eM client shows the correct date in the view, but if I copy (in any way) the date becomes wrong. I am using the newest version of eM client, but I also tried several older version. I used a SQLite browser to look inside the database and it *seems* to be ok.

Best regards
Kristian

Hi Kristian, when did move these emails to the IMAP server? Can you export the message from your local folder, and from the IMAP server and send it both as an attachment to [email protected] with a reference link to this forum topic? Also, when you upload the message on the server, can you please go to Tools > Settings > Advanced and turn on IMAP logging for the problematic account? Once you do so, please try to upload the message on the server one more time and use the repair feature by right clicking your mailbox where the message is located in and select Properties > Repair and click on the Repair button.

After you do this, please go back to the advanced settings window and click on “Send logs” and send the logs to [email protected] along with the exported messages and a reference link to this forum topic.

Thank you,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

even you told me, that it is not a bug in eM client, I am pretty sure it is, since all dates are shown correctly, execept in the output.
I think the bug is in the outlook pst import function. If I move the emails via imap, then everything is fine. Fortunately, I found an old version of my outlook pst and I moved everything via imap.

Best regards
Kristian

Hi Kristian, just send you an email, I mentioned earlier this has been an issue with an older version of eM client when exporting data from the local folders, anyways I’m glad you’ve managed to find a solution for this issue. Unfortunately there was no solution without the backup, glad you’ve found one.

Let us know if you come across any other issues or questions, we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you,
Paul.

When exporting mail to eml-files the date that is used for the mail is correct after the time I started using emClient (Nice program btw, but needs a few improvements here and there). However all the mail I imported  from Outlook .pst file gets the date of the day imported. The actual e-mail date is shown correctly in the e-mail listings, hence should be available for export. Whould be nice if you correct this.

Hi, what version of eM Client are you currently using on your computer, can you check for the exact version number in Help > About?
Can you make a screenshot of the issue?

Thank you,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

The version is 6.0.21040.0

In the above images the date in the mail listing is the Original date of the e-mail.

In the mail heading the date shown is the date when I imported my .pst e-mail

archive into emClient. This date also appears in the e-mail when exporting to .xml

Would be nice if this could be fixed, after all the Original date is apparently still available.

Thanks , Ton

Hi again, unfortunately the date indicates when the message was received on the server, which is in this case the date when you’ve imported the message.
Unfortunately this is the intended behavior of the application and can’t be changed.

Thank you for understanding,
Paul.
