Inbox not being used, diverting to read?

Whenever I receive an email it goes straight to the box named “read” and bypasses the inbox.  I can’t seem to move them from there either into other folders.  I can fully understand this is something I have "done"but done know how to undo it - it makes managing emails really difficult!  Initially I wondered if it was because it was set to show conversation however I have changed the settings to newest on top but it hasn’t made a difference.  Any ideas where I might begin?  This has only been the case since I moved from my desktop to laptop but neither are new versions.

do you have any rules set up either inside eM Client (Tools>Rules) or on your mail server?

Not that I can find.  That would be the sensible answer and Im trying to find a way to speak to the provider themselves to see if there is a known glitch of some kind.   Even when emails are moved from the “read” box they ping back in from the folders they are moved to

eM Client can only move received messages when a rule to do so is set up.
If there are no rules in eM Client, then it definitely must be something on the server side.
Hope your mail provider replies soon.
