Inability to swipe on mail messages with MacOS trackpad

I am unable swipe mail messages in the inbox list to delete or archive as I have specified in Settings/General/Swipe. I have the latest MacOS 26.3 and em Client 10.4.4867 (a1d5549). I have tried setting/unsetting/restarting, but no luck.

Suggestions?
