Hi there. When I start eM Client on my mums Windows 10 laptop, usually it takes around 10-15 seconds until the splash screen pops up, and another 10 seconds until the actual program window opens.
The mouse changes to a spinner symbol for a few seconds, but it is normal again several seconds too early before the splash screen opens.
This is all way too slow! My mother always clicks the icon twice or more because she thinks that nothing is happening, which does not make it better.
My request is to speed up the loading process and above all, show the splash screen immediately, like less than 1 second after starting eM Client!
Notebook: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU N4200 @ 1.10GHz
4,00 GB RAM, 64 Bit
Windows 10 Home 22H2
eM Client version 9.2.1577
Your system doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements, so it is going to be a bit slow. 1.6 GHz CPU is the minimum required by .NET which eM Client uses.
The type of hard disk will also affect performance as eM Client is mostly read/write operations. A standard mechanical disk, if that is what you are using, will certainly affect loading time compared to a standard SSD which is 100s of times faster. And some laptops use slower RPM mechanical disks as they use less power, so that will affect it even more as they have really slow read/write speeds.
Sorry I forgot to mention the hard drive type in my original post - no, it is not a slow HDD but a SSD model Toshiba 064G38 (eMMC).
I don’t want to come across as arrogant or ungrateful. Still I do think there’s room for a bit more performance with a device like this. I mean, even on Windows XP devices 10 years ago with e.g. Pentium 4, HDD and 1 GB RAM, slim programs could open in a few seconds.
Well, I am not sure that eM Client can be considered a “slim program”. Anyway, 1.10GHz is below what Microsoft requires for .NET, so it will work, but probably slowly.
