I have configured IMAP access and can succesfully send and receive.
However only the inbox and sent folder sync automactically.
I have mutiple folders and they only seem to populate when I click on them. This isnt very practical.
How can I get all the folders to sync automatically?

When you add a new account, it can take time to automatically populate all the sub folders depending on how much email you have to sync. Which mail server are you synching from ?
With regular IMAP, only the Inbox syncs in real-time. All other folder sync on the schedule specified in Menu > Settings > General > Synchronization.
Be aware that this setting also affects the sync interval for Contacts and Calendars.
