IMAP folder loose the sync and REsync every now and then (more than 3k emails)


My problem is as follow :

On my imap account i have one folder where i move all read emails.
This has a long history of mails since 2007 and more than 3k mails.

I’ve told the client to download all mails for offline use.

So if i’m not wrong, the client should :

  1. Sync all the mail on this account and folders
  2. Download all mails synchronized on the local computer
  3. Sync only the new mails that are added on the folders.

My problem is that now an then, the program is Resyncing from the beginning all the folders and all the 3k+ mails and download them again and again.

It is like the client lose that it has downloaded all the mails and that the folder were sync and begin again. This happens more than once per week and then takes a while to sync all the mail again (and in the meantime i can’t use those mails as they disappeared from the client…) (sometimes more than once per day…

I’m on the pro version : V.3.5.12280.0

i noticed that imap is unusable on mine also …

i have thousands of emails …

and it tries to re sync all folders from the beginning everytime .

are there a fix ?

I think I may be running into this as well. Wasn’t much of an issue (fast connection) until I started using Spamihilator with emclient, in which case, syncing just kind of… stops… after it has synced a couple of my enormous folders.

No errors in logs for either eM Client or Spamihilator.

The same problem. Each time I open an IMAP folder all messages in the folder are resynchronized. The server is SmarterMail 11.

Hi, is this happening for some default folder, whole account or some folder created by you?
What email provider do you use?


This happening for the whole account, independently of the os.
I use two differents providers one professionnal (swisscenter), and one little provider (hostarea).

This fail not happening with other mail client.

I suppose that you are using IMAP protocol as well, so I will ask you for your IMAP logs.

Go to tools - settings - advanced, check IMAP under your account, apply and restart eM Client.

Simulate steps that leads to your issue and after that send logs… to [email protected] together with this topic’s URL in subject.

then you can turn logging off.
