I have several email accounts (all IMAP) set up in eMC on my PC and I used the QR code to set up my Android several months ago and all worked as expected for a few months.
But recently if I delete an email on my PC I still see that email on my mobile. As I write my PC inbox on one account correctly shows 2 emails but on the mobile for the same account I see 6 emails. Four them were deleted on the PC this morning - several hours ago. No matter what I do with the mobile version I still see these deleted emails…unless I quit the mobile app and start it up again.
If I delete an email from the mobile app the email immediately disapears on the PC app - which is expected. But the opposite is not true,
Can that restart be avoided with a refresh of the app? Or is there a setting I have missed?
Paul
Check that you have the latest Droid app from the Playstore V10.2.1710.l which came out recently.
If you already have the latest version, then suggest to close eM Client and then go to your OS “Settings / Apps / eM Client / Storage” section and (clear the cache) and then reopen the app and see if that makes any difference.
If clearing the cache still makes no difference, then close eM Client again and go back into the Storage section and (clear the data) and then uninstall and reinstall the app. Then reopen the app and (setup as new again) via the desktop QR Export option like you did originally. Then see if that fixes the problem. As could possibly be either some corruption in the account setup or something has happened to the app itself.
Apart from that sometimes eg: third party optionally installed apps can sometimes interfere on mobile email apps, such as optionally installed firewall security programs or optionally installed antivirus programs or VPNs. So if you have anything like that installed “other than what comes default with the Droid OS”, then try completely disabling those to test.
Lastly from reading the threads, there will be a new eM Client V10.2 or 10.3 Droid app update out very soon, which also has the Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks etc, so if none of the above makes any difference, then try the next app update when released and see if that then fixes your sync issue.
Hi cyberzork,
I can confirm I am using the current version.
I believe the problem is CACHE related, If I go into apps>storage and manually clear the cache for eMC and then start up the app everything syncs correctly. Meaning emails I previously deleted on the PC start dissapearing on the mobile until all folders match the same as the PC folders.
It feels like I need a setting to clear cache on exit.
Paul
When you reset the cache, of course it works, as the sync is made from the scratch. The question here is whether it is an eM Client bug or server does not send updates for the updated messages in real time (we’ve seen this a lot in the past - even Gmail sometimes has problems with that). That can be diagnosed only with IMAP logs together with the information when some message (message id) is changed (timestamp) on the second device and ideally logs from both desktop and mobile.

Michal_Burger,
My gut is that it is an issue with eM Client rather than the server as changes on the mobile are reflected instantly on the PC.
Question is now how to prove that - and I assume I need to get logs into support…or shall I just wait for the next release and see if the problem evaporates…
If you give me your email address (or send message to [email protected]) I can send you a link to APK of the latest beta version (official beta is still not present on Play store because Google is so slow in approval process - 15 days and counting). That might be quick check whether something has changed or not.

Thanks - email sent.

Beta APK received and installed after uninstalling the current live version. Used the QR code to set up and so far all is good. Infact the difference is remarkable…deleting an email on the PC INSTANTLY shows up on the mobile. Just how it should be.
Many thanks eMC support.

Yes agree the new 10.3.x Beta droid app appears to sync fine for myself as well compared to the previous build. Also emails opening faster too.
I also agree that emails are opening faster - and are complete.
With the previous version I often opened an email and could only see part of the email. So I had to close the email and re-open it, which mostly improved but not always. So far every email opened on the mobile is showing the full content.
Hi Cyberzork and Michal_Burger,
A brief update on the mobile beta. Everything appears to be in order and I am very happy with the improved performance and the more accurate representation as to my IMAP accounts.
There is one “issue” but personally I like this “issue”.
Previous mobile versions would run in the background and every 15 minutes would connect and download new emails. This beta version does not do that - which I much prefer. I have checked all my settings and as the app was set up using the QR code from the desktop I can confirm all settings are in sync and the same on desktop and mobile.
If you do re-introduce background operation PLEASE can we have a toggle switch or setting so that we only connect and download when we start up the app on the mobile.
Paul
That was an intended change to prevent bothering user with regular sync, so this “issue” is expected :).
