One of my computers backs up every evening at 8:30, But I can’t see the backup listed in the task library. How is the backup happening if the back up isn’t in the task list!

So you are unable to perform backup of eM Client data? What happens when you click on backup and try to start it manually that way?
If you set folder for backup I would recommend you to check in that folder whether backup file is present or not,
to see where eM Client backup your data go to Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Backup.
Can you please attach screenshot of task list too?
