I had a database error which I could not correct so I placed the em client folder in the recycle bin and installed a fresh version of the program.  I now need to regain my contacts list from the folder in the recycle bin, how do I do this?  I’m afraid if I restore I will overwrite the new install.

Yes, if you restore it will replace the complete database. But the following will work. It is best if you do this off-line especially if you are using POP3, so that new email is not downloaded to the restored database while you are exporting the lost contacts. The best way to do that is to disable the Wi-Fi or network connection.

  1. Close eM Client and rename the C:\Users_username_\AppData\Roaming\eM Client folder.
  2. Restore the deleted one.
  3. Open eM Client and export the contacts.
  4. Close eM Client and delete C:\Users_username_\AppData\Roaming\eM Client folder.
  5. Rename the old one back to eM Client.
  6. Open eM Client and import the contacts.
