I just configured my gmail account on em client, and Im not able to sync my gmail at all… Im receiving errors related to IMAP … saying that an attempt to connect to my gmail has failed… though I was able to do the setup with successful login.

please try adding eM Client to an exception list in your Windows firewall and anti-virus software, they could be blocking the communication with the mail servers.
If that does not help, please copy the content of the Tools>Operations>Log window here.
