I installed the new free installation on my Windows 10. Now I created the two accounts I had in may previuos installation (on windows XP). I made a backup from the old installation and I put the compress file in the same forlder of the new one. If I tried to run the restore I get this message: Selected folder does not contain any backup files. If I remove all the files from the folder I get this message:
I do not believe you can restore an older version to a newer one I believe it must be the same top level rel 6 to rel 6 or rel 7 to rel 7 . If that is what you did.
Find the version on the xp install that on windows 10 then restore using the xp backup then upgrade to the current release . Here is the web site for release history and you should be able to download the older version http://www.emclient.com/release-history
Or
On the xp version using file export export the emails then re import the emails to new version.
But I think the former is a better way to do it. It is what i did on mine
Hello Giuseppe,
unfortunatley the second message is not visible.
Either way, I do suggest trying to restore from your old backup to version 6 first - http://www.emclient.com/dist/v6.0.24928/setup.msi
And then upgrade and migrate your database.
Since you already installed the newer version, you might have to uninstall and remove the database first.

Olivia
I have almost the same problem, i am trying to move my install to another computer, both are running win10 and both eM Clients are up to date, and i do get the same message thread starter is getting??
My problem exactly!
One thing you can try is to manually copy the database directory from the one computer to the other.
Close eM Client on both computers and then copy the complete C:\Users_username_\AppData\Roaming\eM Client\ folder from the one to the other. You may have to show hidden items in Explorer to do that.
If you only have the backup zip file, you can extract its contents to the same directory, which is all that the restore function does.
Worked great! Thanks!
