I cannot add contacts, the add button doesn’t work. My liscense has expired and I have to pay a fat fee to use it. There are so many problems associated with the software that it is unbelievable.

eM Client’s licenses do not expire. You probably mean that your trial version ran out.
Also, you are not forced to pay a fee, you can choose between purchasing a PRO license (http://www.emclient.com/purchase-em-c…) or signing up for a FREE license (http://www.emclient.com/free-license).
If the problem with contacts continues even after you activate your license, please share more information.
Does it happen on only one account or all of them? Is there an error message when you try to add a new contact?
