i am experiencing this error smtp starttls error every time i send an email. please help me resolving the error.
Hello Viktoriya, I’m sorry to see this, but unfortunately not completely sure what error you’re referring to, can you please make a screenshot of the issue and upload a screenshot of the error here on the forum?
Also, when the error occurs, please switch to the “Log” tab in Operations, copy the content of the Log and submit it to us here on the forum along with the screenshot.
What version of eM Client are you currently using on your computer, can you please check the exact release number in Help > About? What mail service are you using with eM Client?

Hello again, can you please check your account settings in Tools > Accounts > Your account > SMTP and make sure you’re using the recommended server settings.
Seems like you might be using an incorrect security policy combined with a wrong port.
From the look at the log, please check if you’re using the port 587 and “Force usage of SSL/TLS” on your gmail account.
If you’re using another account with eM Client, please make a screenshot of the SMTP settings and let me know what mail service vendor you’re using for this account.

I’m having a similar problem. since monday I can’t send any message using eM Client, at the begining I recived the same error as Viktoriya but today I don’t recibe any message but nor of my send e-mails appars in the send box. I check my configuration, following the Paul post (I’m sending a print preview) but the problem continues. Can you help me?

Are you using any security software on your computer, that may have disabled the application’s capabilities to connect to the server or open up the connection with your mail service?
If you are, please try to temporarily disable any security software on your computer and check if the issue persists.

Since last week, I don’t use gmail, is another e-mail provider and i disable my security software, but this don’t work… 
Yes i have been using a Security software and by disabling it, now i can send emails. but at the same time i want to use my security client. how do i work with both applications at the same time. I have to disable my Security software every time.
Unfortunately eM Client can’t workaround these issues if an external application blocks the connection, you should however be able to setup an exception for outgoing connections or for eM Client specifically. You might also be able to setup an exception for the SMTP port your account is using for sending mail.
