HTML code exposed by eM Client (Windows 8.1)

Hello. I would like to report a decoding error observed in HTML messages received from specific senders.

Apparently, eM Client release 6.0.20617.0 for Windows 8.1 (my case) is not able to decode specific HTML messages, and the HTML code is exposed. I have examples I can share with support specialists, if necessary.

Please let me know if this is a client misconfiguration, and how to address it. If not, please indicate when I should expect a correction.

Thank you.

Hi George, can you please install this update and check if the issue persists? http://www.emclient.com/dist/v6.0.20773/setup.msi
If it does, can you please either create screenshots of the examples and post it here on the forum or send them to my email?

Thank you,
Paul.

Hello Paul. Thanks for your prompt reply. The update to 6.0.20773.0 has been installed and the problem seems to persist. Old messages still look weird, as you can see in the attached screenshot, which includes the upper portion of a corrupted message. Note that I omitted sender and recipient intentionally. Please let me know if you want me to send additional information through email and, in this case, specify which email address I should use. Thank you.

Hi George, does this occur on newly received messages as well? If so can you please go to Tools > Settings > Advanced and turn on IMAP logging for the problematic account?

  1. Save the settings
  2. Restart the application
  3. Replicate the issue
When a faulty email is received, please go back to the advanced settings window and click on “Send logs” and send the logs to my email ([email protected]) with a reference link to this forum topic.
If the issue does not occur on newly received email, please just send me one of the faulty emails exported to .eml format and again include a reference link to this forum topic.

Thank you,
Paul.

Yes, this behavior was identified for messages received both before and after the upgrade. I have turned IMAP logging on and will forward you the logs as soon as a new faulty message arrives. FYI, I am also working with the sender to verify if there is something wrong in the message conception. Thanks for your continued support.

No problem, send me the logs whenever you have it, please don’t forget to include the reference link to the forum topic then.
Are you having the issues with one particular sender or multiple senders?

Thank you,
Paul.
