How to move emails from old account to new account within emclient

I tried various ways without success. Can someone take me through procedures of moving all emails from one account to another within emclient and the deleting the old account

Can someone take me through procedures of moving all emails from one account to another within emclient and the deleting the old account>

This is what i would suggest.

First go to “Menu / Accounts” (Pc) or “eM Client / Accounts” (Mac). Then click “Add Account” using either the automatic email wizard or manual setup depending on your mailbox requirements and add your new mail account. Then Save & Close accounts.

Next “Right click” on the “Mail icon” in eM Client at the bottom left and select “Open in new window”. You will then see 2 identical eM Client windows. Then arrange them so you can see both windows side by side vertically on your screen.

Next on the left eM Client GUI window go to your first eM Client mail account, and on the second right eM Client GUI window go to your new mail account.

Then “click on your left mail account main email folders” one at a time eg: Inbox, Sent Box, Drafts, Trash and “select all the messages in the folder”. Then “Drag all those folder messages” to the right window new account matching Inbox, Sent Box, Drafts, Trash folder.

Next once you have moved all the messages of your Main account folders from the left window to the right window, then “Drag all the other folders” under that old account as they are “directly onto the new account name” above the folders in the right window. The old message folders (complete with their contents) will then appear as they were under the new mail account in the right window.

Now once you have moved all your messages and message folders over to your new account in the right window, click “Show Operations” via the dropdown on the right of “Refresh” at the top left. You will then see when the messages and message folders have completed. eg: If you are moving the old account to a new IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account, after moving eM Client has to then sync all the dragged messages and message folders up to the new mail server account so can take time to complete. If your new mail account is just a local POP account then it will be very quick.

Lastly “once you are confident that all the messages and message folders have been moved over to the new mail account” then go back to eM Client accounts via the menu again, and highlight the old mail account on the left and click “remove at the top”. Then save and close accounts.

Note:- Before doing anything, make a manual backup of eM Client, just incase you need to restore for any reason. Click “Menu / Backup” (Pc) or “File / Backup” (Mac). Click “Show Operations” via the dropdown on the right of Refresh at the top left to see when the manual backup is complete.

Regret after numerous attempts i have been able to add another account but no further. Is there someone in the forum who has teamviewer or similar who could log in to my pc and sort me out.

It is very simple, really.

You have the two accounts setup in eM Client, so just select some messages in a folder in the old account, and drag them to a folder in the new account.

Automatic response Download from server failed

Well, you need to be connected to both the source and destination servers for this to happen.

Is there some error connecting to the mailboxes on either server other than just failed?

It seems there must be, on the server which I previously used and which has now expired. I am at a loss what to do to sort this out.

If you have lost access / connection to your old mail account server, then you will have to contact the technical support “at your old mail server”, to see if they can reinstate your mailbox for a short time to then allow you to move your email to your new mail account in eM Client.

Ps Most mailbox providors won’t charge much just to have mailbox access for eg: a min month.

I have written to previous host/server but to date they have been less than helpful. If this option fails, is there any other way of moving contact list and historic emails going back to 2016 over to emclient?
