How to create identical folders from inbox to archive?

I’m wanting to duplicate all in box folders and sub-folders in my archive file

If you use automatic archiving (Menu > Settings > Mail > Automatic Archiving) this will be done automatically in the local Archive folder.

If you use server-side archiving (selecting a message and clicking on Archive) this is not possible as the server moves all messages archived in this way to a single server folder.

I’m wanting to duplicate all in box folders and sub-folders in my archive file.

Apart from what @Gary already advised, if you just wanted a current snapshot of the either server archive or local archive folder you could eg: Just right click on the Archive folder and click Copy and then create a folder down in Local folders called eg: Archive Backup and then paste your current Archive folder in there.

Or create a folder on your eg: Desktop called Archive Backup and paste it in there. All the Archive folder messages on the desktop will then will be in .eml format and can be dragged back anytime to eM Client if you need to at a later date.

Hello cyberzork.

Great info, but this doesn’t seem to work on Mac big Sur version 11.17.10 OS.

Thanks
Al

It works the same on all versions and on both Mac and PC:

If you use automatic archiving, a duplicate folder set will be created automatically in the local Archive folder.

If you use server-side archiving, this is not possible as the server moves all messages archived in this way to a single server folder.

When manually archiving an email, I would like it to be sent to a subfolder in the archive folder that is identical to the folder I archived it from. Is there any way to achieve that?

Alternatively, can you suggest a (very handy, quick) workaround? The aim would be to mainly know at a later stage which emails need to be kept longer and which can be deleted. For example folder/tag 1 would be to keep forever, folder 3 to delete after a year.
