How to change folder color on sidebar (for gmail)

Hello,
I would like to change the folder colors on the sidebar (see screenshot below). I use gmail. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

See my post in the following thread link where you can currently set Gmail “Outline Folder colors” via eM Client Tags.

There is also an option to “color the folder name” via “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Folders / Color” Use folder color for icon and text. That way the color will stand out more.

Lastly if you prefer “Solid folder colors” like Gmail online, there is a Sleekplan suggestion for that which you can vote for via the following page.

Thank you for the reply. However, I tried this already. As you can clearly see in my screenshot, the tags/labels are not colorized on the sidebar, even though they are in the tag manager and in gmail. Am I missing something?

What version of eM Client are you using?

Version 9.2.2307

Ok that version when i tested with my own Gmail account does change Mail label colours ok with Windows 10/11 and Mac Sequoia.

So next if you originally installed eM Client from the website directly then try uninstalling and when you uninstall if you have Windows “don’t delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard. Then reinstall the same version from the release history page and see if that fixes it.

Failing that try i would try exporting all the eM Client Settings to a .xml file via “Menu / File / Export” and then “checking all the boxes” as in the example further down this post.

Then once the Settings.xml file is exported, backup eM Client via “Menu / Backup” . You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the dropdown on the right of Refresh. Then close eM Client and go to the eM Client hidden database folder (see at the end of this post), and rename it to eg: eM Client-Old.

Then reopen eM Client and skip the setup wizard and click “Menu / File / Import” and choose “eM Client Settings.XML” and then select your exported saved Settings.xml file. Then see if that fixes it once all your mail and tags / labels etc are back.

Now if that still makes no difference, then restore your eM Client backup via “Menu / File / Restore” and then next suggest if you have a current active paid Pro or Personal version, go to the VIP support page and log in and submit a support ticket.

(Export eM Client Settings to XML)

(eM Client Hidden Database Folders)

(Windows hidden eM Client database folder)
“Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client”

(Mac Hidden hidden eM Client database folder)
“Users\yourusername\Library\Application Support\eM Client”

Thank you for the reply. I took your first tip, and decided to upgrade to version 10. And now the folders are colored thankfully. :folded_hands:

However, I do agree with you it would be more useful if the color filled the icon rather just outlined the icon. Count me a +1 on the vote for this!

It is a feature introduced in version 10, it wont work in version 9.
You can also highlight the folder name with the same color to make it stand out more:
Settings - General - Folders - Colors - Use folder color for Icon and text

Great thank you. This is nice. I like the recent inbox number in red too. But if I can make a recommendation to the devs, something like this (see beow) would stand out more.
