How to add Google Calendar and Contacts service to an existing pop3 gmail account

I have a gmail account set up with pop3 access. I would like to add google Calendar and Contacts sync to it. Is there any way of doing this?

If I try to add a new gmail account, it tries to use imap instead of pop3.

I know it’s possible to have a pop3 gmail account with calendar and contacts sync because I have seen this setup on another PC. I just can’t find a way of getting there.

Any ideas?

You can simply add separate calendar account. Open New account - Calendar - Google calendar and fill in your login information. Hope it helps.

That doesn’t work unfortunately.

The new account shows up as a node in the Contacts tree but doesn’t sync any contacts.

And it doesn’t even show up in Calendars. I only see “Local Folders” there.

Is there a settings file or log I can take a look at?

Please add the same gmail account again (use autodiscover) and uncheck the Mail option during the create account process. If you still will be unable to synchronize your contacts - send me your GData log. Thank you.

That worked! Thanks.

I still have a slight issue with this. I am getting an “Account count restriction” notice saying only 2 of my accounts will be online.

But 2 of the 3 accounts I have set up are actually the same account, one for calendar/contacts, one for pop3 email.

Any way round this?

And which 2 accounts are online?

When eM Client detects a possibility to use mail service in the particular account, it counts like mail account even if the mail service is disabled.
