How to access contacts on my Mac?

I’m having a hard time finding any way to have eM Client read/sync the with Contacts.app on my Mac. I can’t anything in the app’s Settings, Accounts, or Contacts window related to accessing my existing contact, nor can I find anything in the online documentation about this.

What am I missing here?

eM Client doesn’t read from other apps directly.

But all you need to do is add the same account that the app is syncing with to eM Client, and they will both show the same contracts from the server.

I don’t sync my contacts to the cloud. They are on-device only for security reasons.

Then you would need to export them out of the app and then import them manually into eM Client via “Menu / File / Import” where eM Client supports various different contact formats.

…and keep them in sync manually, I guess. That’s disappointing. But thanks for the info.

That’s terrible – have people forgotten that the whole point of computers (and applications) is to make things easier for users? This means that every time I add a new contact, I would have to go through that import process again?

Why can’t emClient access mac contacts directly just like any other application on Mac is able to do?

Mac contacts for years now “are normally stored in the Apple iCloud” (Contacts - Apple iCloud), where then all internet apps (including eM Client) connected to that same Apple iCloud account can access those same contacts.

However if you still have Local Mac Contacts stored on your Mac address book and haven’t moved them to iCloud Contacts or any other Cloud Mail Contacts, then you just need to manually export those and then import those into eM Client Contacts.

See Apple Documentation where you can export Apple Contacts to a .vCard file Export or archive contacts in Contacts on Mac – Apple Support (UK) which then can be imported into eM Client via “Menu / File / Import”.
