Before your computer crashed, did you previously create a Backup in eM Client via the “Menu / Backup” option and copy that to an external drive or a cloud backup for safe keeping ?
If you did copy that eM Client backup.zip file to the same backup location as before the crash, and then restore that via “Menu / File / Restore” in eM Client.
For Windows the default eM Client backup location would have been in your case - C:\Users\Sarah\Documents\eM Client.
If you didn’t have an eM Client backup, if you have an IMAP, Exchange or iCloud account (non POP) and nothing saved in local folders at the bottom left of eM Client, then you can just re-add your email accounts as new and all your previous mail will come back from the remote server.
Hi, unfortunately I had to have a new pc…the chap who moved things over for me did a back up in a zipped file, but when I try to import it it says there are no emclient files in there (even though there are)!
It was a pop account so I’m afraid the emails are now lost…
“Import”? Or “Restore”
Also, I am not sure it is necessary for eM/C’s restore function to work, but I’d make sure the backup file(s) you are trying to restore are available in the standard folder @cyberzork called out above…that would mean extracting them from the Zip file you were provided. (note: backup files are also in a zip format, at least in my version 8.2, so you would be extracting/moving a zip file from inside a zip file).
Hi, I’ve tried import and restore. OK thanks I will go and have a look at the file as I’m sure it’s zipped. Thank you for you help
