I often get invites to calendar events. In these emails I have the option to “accept” etc. (this transfers the event directly to my “local” calendar in emclient.)
But I need to import the ICS file to some other software. But in the email I don’t see the ICS file as an attachement as opposed to EVERY other email software.
How do I access the ICS file which is attached to the invite?
I do not believe it is possible to save something that is not there.
I guess you could accept, save, and then delete, however, if you decline or whatever, why would you want to save something in which you have no interest?
¡Buena suerte!

When I open this exact email in my webmailer or in windows mail etc. I can see an ICS attachement to this very email. So the ICS file is there but em Client doesn’t let me save it right out of the email.
(if I want to decline the meeting, you are true - I don’t really need it in my calender. But this is actually quiet handy for me to also see declined meetings afterwards - might sound a bit weird tho)
I’m not sure why ics files are not available to open in emClient… I need to be able to open the ics files so I can save them into a calendar. There is no option to set a default calendar in an IMAP mail only account so I need to be able to import ics files into a CalDev calendar.
Currently I need to select “Create Meeting from Message”, remove all participants, copy/paste any join links into the now plain-text description, and then save it into the calendar for me to have the meeting actually in a calendar… The other option is to create a new meeting and copy/paste everything into it. Both of these work-arounds are time consuming and should be ripe for fixing.
The account I’m using is a mail-only IMAP account. The Calendar, Tasks, and Contacts are identified in the settings:
Important notes:
I did check with multiple meeting invites from different sources.
I also accepted the meeting to see if that would add to calendar (it did not).
Please note the Default folders within the IMAP account:
This is what it looks like when it’s copied into “Description”. Note no url link to join the meeting:
After pasting in the url to join this is what it looks like (and provides me with a “join” inside my ios calendar):
Preferred Action:
I would like to have .ics files auto load into the identified calendar. If this is not possible adding an “Add to calendar” selection in the right-click menu is acceptable. Both of these should copy any url links into the calendar invite. It should not be just plain-text.
And if possible, being able to have both would be ideal (upon receipt of an .ics attachment the meeting is automatically added to the calendar like outlook does) and being able to add to calendar manually (for example if accidently deleted)
Final note: going to tag the rep that got the pst import fixed… hoping they know where to send this issue too! @Kim_Fisher
If you are not getting a .ics calendar invite in your email to save, then “that’s usually to do with the senders calendar invitation” or an incompatibility with eM Client that might need updating.
eg: If i receive Calendar invites from Google customers, using eM Client V9 or V10 desktop or mobile apps, there is always a .ics file attached where you can" right click and open or save the .ics file attachments as @skybat advised to then go into any other calendar if you want.
I don’t see the .ics file. Not sure if I’m missing a settings but for ics files I don’t see attachments… only for other attachments…
There is no Setting you normally need to enable in eM Client to see .ics file attachments.
That means “either the calendar invitation doesn’t include the .ics file” as i advised above, or the senders email is not showing the .ics file attachment for “some other unknown reason”.
Do the .ics attachments show in any other email client ?
If the .ics file attachment “does appear in other mail clients or webmail but not eM Client”, then suggest “right click in the body of the email” and “save an example invitation email to a .eml file”.
Then if you have a current active Pro or Personal version go to the VIP Support page and login and lodge a support ticket to have that investigated.
Thanks for the discussion, everyone, we appreciate your input.
Microsoft sends calendar invites with invite.ics in the .eml file, not as a separate attachment. That’s why eM Client processes it the way it does.
We know that having access to the .ics file itself would be helpful for many users, and it’s not something that will be resolved through a quick hotfix, but it’s definitely on our radar and we are actively discussing it.
awesome! Having access to the invite file would be great, but also if you’re able to create an “add to calendar” for any meeting invitation, or maybe that and auto-add it to the calendar if it’s configured (or have a radio button to auto-add or not). There’s a bunch of different ways of skinning this cat.
I received a Microsoft Teams invitation today and I added it the way that I mentioned above and also selected “Accept”. The invitation pushed into the calendar that I configured for that account and the one that I created was also there. I’ll check again when I get another invitation but adding it to the calendar upon accepting the meeting may already happen with the platform if there is a calendar configured in the account settings. It may be just that the invite.ics file needs to be extracted.
EDIT ::
Ok so I’ve done the “accept” from the desktop client of another microsoft teams meeting and it dumped the invitation into my specified calendar again… so the functionality is there, if the “only add to the calendar when accepted” is the design it works exactly as designed/expected and this piece is already coded/complete. The only missing link seems to be the missing invite.ics attachment.
One very important note though… you have to accept the meeting from the desktop client. If you want to accept the meeting from the mobile client there is no calendar associated with it there and there is nowhere to accept the invitation in the mobile client. For Google invites there is somewhere to accept the invitation from the mobile client. I suspect this may be an issue since there is no calendar associated with the mobile client and may not have anywhere to dump the invitation into.
