How change from pop3 to imap?
Using emclient for 3 years + and having trouble sending emails - fails
Spectrum says must use IMAP not POP3.

You just go to “Menu / Accounts” (Pc) or eM Client / Accounts" (Mac) and click Add account using either the automatic email wizard and enter your Spectrum account details. Or if your server doesn’t support the IMAP automatic wizard (some don’t), then you can also optionally manually setup your IMAP account via the “Add account / Mail / Other” option with your specific mail server IMAP details from the Spectrum website support section.
Once you have added your IMAP account, then drag / move all your existing POP mail and mail folders to your new IMAP account folders.
After you move them, eM Client will then start syncing / uploading those messages & folders to your IMAP account on the server which will then be available on all your devices once completed. You can view the uploading progress via clicking “Show Operations” in the dropdown “on the right of the Refresh button” at the top left.
Lastly once you are certain all your messages and message folders are in your IMAP account, then remove / delete your old POP account.
Note: The best way I find to dblcheck all your messages are 100% all in your IMAP account, is to go online to your webmail once completed.
Note: Make a backup eM Client before removing your old POP account just incase you need to restore for any reason. “Menu / Backup” (Pc) or “File / Backup” (Mac). You can also see when the backup is complete via clicking “Show Operations” in the dropdown on the right of Refresh at the top.
Worked like a charm for me but not on wife’s.
Starting add new acct and when prompted for password quick window popped up for Office 365 & browser opened to microsoft online. She has no acct there. Everything stops at this point - emc locked up and had to go to task mgr to close it.
Thoughts please. I’m 86 and there is no 5 year old around to help me, LOL

What mailbox email address is your wife with ? Eg: @bla.com
Mailbox email address is: @chartermi.net
Both my wife and I use the same ISP services.(Charter/Spectrum).
I had no problem whatsoever with my changeover to IMAP.
Is there a way to bulk copy the contacts from her present eMC to a totally new separate install of eMC?

Ok suggest to then go to your account IMAP and SMTP tabs in eM Client and “jot down the server address, server port and security policy” in both tabs, and then manually add your wife’s account via the “Add Account / Mail / Other” option.
The only difference should be her login name and password.

You can export all the contacts to a eg: vCard format file which will then import back into eM Client. “Menu / File / Export” and “Menu / File / Import”

This is an amazing program compared to the clunky web mail at Spectrum.
All folder contents transferred automatically and so quick I hardly realized it.
