It would be really helpful if eM Client could recognize when an incoming e-mail matches a contact (it already does this, of course), then notice the categories that a contact is in, and process a rule in the rules engine based on a category. For a relevant and specific example, I would like to move any e-mails from people that are in my “Customers” contact category into a “Business” folder automatically. I don’t want to list each person individually in the rule, because this will make the rule huge, and because I add to that category regularly.
Is this possible with the current eM Client? I have tried to create such a rule, several times, but have never found a way. If it is not possible, can we make this a feature request for a version to be released in the near future? Thanks!
It would be helpful too if eM Client would handle contacts itself inside the rules manager beside of single email addresses. I’ve several contacts with multiple email accounts I’ve stored as email2 and email3 in the contacts information. Actually I have to copy the 2nd and 3th address manually to build a rule with this contacts. Furthermore updating the contacts information would automatically update all rules for this contact.
As a second point the addresses inside the rules manager could be sorted by alphabet.
I would like to do this is a two step process. 1 assign the categories as the message arrive. Then read the email in the inbox. 2 invoke the rules and move the categorized message to the appropriate folder. The trick is to process the move rules before the assigning rules are processed.
An alternative rule would be to assign a category based on the contact subfolder so
the same category does not have to be assigned individual contacts.
Hi, this is unfortunately not possible, however you can setup a rule for categorizing your incoming email and rule for sorting the mail to folders, but mark the sorting rule as inactive (so it won’t be processed automatically), but when you decide you want to sort the categorized and read messages from inbox, you can right click your inbox folder and select “Apply rule” and select the rule for sorting. However you may need to do this several times basically for each folder.
It is unfortunately not possible to sort the email automatically after it’s been read.
Most users mistakenly try to make an email client their personal secretary – instead of treating an email system as it really is: A QUEUE. Just like the inbox/outbox basket you have for the mail room to deliver or pick up your company correspondence.
Does any corporate mail room provide separate baskets for you to use for your personal mail?
The proper solution, within the confines of ANY email system & client, would be to have two or more email mailboxes – each with its own address. Your office has a street address. Your employer has a different street address. Each has a mailbox. At home, you read your childrens’ mail and then you decide whether or not to give it to them.
“Plus addressing” allows direct delivery to a particular queue (other than an INBOX).
Generally, plus addressing allows delivery to a subfolder of a specific user’s INBOX. This is done via an address of the form: username+mailfolder@domain.
If the subqueue is more than one level deep, you will need to conform to the hierarchy separator appropriate to your site.
