Dear all,
When composing a new email, the account name is displayed along with the email address.
I use email addresses with aliases.
Is there a way to control which information (including the main email address) is displayed?
For example, let’s say my email account is [email protected] .
This account has two aliases: [email protected] and [email protected] .
Can I set one of the aliases as the default? For instance, when composing a new email, can this alias be used by default?
Additionally, can I control their visibility?
Example configuration:
[email protected] | Invisible
[email protected] | Visible | Default
[email protected] | Visible
Thanks

You can set an Alias to be the default address when composing emails. See @yerch82 and @Gary posts below in th following thread.
Actually, there is a hack to do so with a little inconvinient:
Configure your email alias.
Go to account > Default Email > email and change it to the alias you want it to be the default.
You are done! now in the emails select will appear 2 emails, your alias and the default email which by the way is now the alias youve changed. If you want to send from the original domain you must change again in your account config thogh. Hope it works for you!

As you say, a possible solution is to change the sender’s details in the account setting to the address you want to be default, rather than the ones used to login to the account.
You set an account as default.
Then you change the sender’s details to what you want to be default.
They don’t have to be the same as the details used to login to the server.
Some servers will not let you login with credentials (…
