Help saving space in gmail - folders?!

Hi,

I use eM client to access my googlemail email. I’m running out of space on google. Does anyone know if there’s a way I can move old emails out of google (so they’re not taking up space) so they’re in a local folder on my computer (rather than cloud) and I can still access them in a folder on the left hand side of eM?

Apologies if this is a stupid question, I have no idea how any of this stuff works!
Thanks,
Sarah

Yes, you can drag messages from the Gmail folder to Local Folders. That will remove them from the server, and they will exist in eM Client only.

If Local Folders are not visible below your other folders, you can enable them by selecting Menu > Settings > General > General > Show Local Folders. Click on Save & Close to save the setting.

Oh amazing, thank you Gary!

If you move messages into eM Client Local Folders, remember to backup eM Client regularly (if you don’t already), either manually or automatically incase anything goes wrong down the track. You can then easily restore if need be.

The backup.zip files by default go into your “Documents / eM Client” folder. Reccomend to also regularly copy those .zip files to an external drive or cloud drive incase of hard-disk failures.

To manually backup eM Client click “Menu / Backup” (PC) or “File / Backup” (Mac). You can see when the backup is complete in “Show Operations” via the the dropdown on the right of Refresh top left.

To automatically backup eM Client go to “Menu / Settings / General / Backup” (PC) or “eM Client / Preferences / General / Backup” (Mac).
