There should be a format option for making paragraphs into hanging indents without needing to use bullets or numbered lists to do so. I want to create a list using a selection of my correspondent’s item numbers, and format it so that the item number (followed by a colon or a dash) hangs to the left of the indented discussion of that item. I.e., indent all but the first x characters of the first line. That would be exceedingly clear to the reader, but I can’t do it, have to cut and paste from a word processing program.
