Gmail POP3 option or workarounds

Hi,
Understand that emClient has implemented Oath for Gmail and thereby isn’t a less-secure app so it all works fine except it’s killed POP3.

But from what I can tell it’s still possible to connect to gmail through POP3 if you set up an app-specific password and 2SV authentication.

Gmail are already pinging me wanting me to subscribe for more storage after only a few months of IMAP being stored both sides. I want to keep local copies on my desktop but don’t need them in storage.

Is there a way to either ‘detach’ messages from server IMAP and not sync the deletion, or can emClient implement the app-specific password/2SV POP3 gmail authentication?

Thanks

Hey @Seb_M

I set up Gmail POP3 for my daughter.

Below is what you will need to do, the example is for Outlook but the principal is the same.

Here you can see on Youtube how to use setup.
the example is for Outlook but works OK in eMC, I have checked.

First you have to make the password with your Gmail account
Save the password to use in EMClient

Next you must setup in eMC as follows:

Menu/Accounts/Add account/DO NOT USE AUTOMATIC ->Click Mail ->Next →
Enter Email ->Next ->Select POP3
Incoming server enter: pop.gmail.com
User name: your email address
Password: what you got from Gmail, you saved before ->Click Next
Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
eMC tests what you enter
Then Continue WITHOUT encryption
Continue to end with follow instruction.

¡Buena suerte!
