Gmail missing folders and emails

I have been using emails for 35 years and I moved from one provider to another several times, also changing clients (Eudora first, then Outlook, then eM Client). This means that I was accustomed to create folders and subfolders in order to keep my mailbox tidy and clear. When I moved to Gmail the “tag” novelty was something I never liked so I kept doing it things as before. Since I needed a program that could handle both mail and calendars in Gmail, I dumped Outlook and movedo to eM Client. As a result, however, I have “lost” thousands of folders and emails!
At least, I thought I had until I checked today and I found out that all my the folders and emails that eM Client doesn’t display at all, are, in facts, still there on Gmail.
So, I wonder if there is a way to fix this? Can I force eM Client to re-check a folder in order to have it realize there is a lot of missing stuff it fails to notice? Please do not suggest to delete and restart from scratch because that’s something I have done at least 3 times with no positive effects. Thanks

When you add in a Gmail IMAP account by default all your custom created parent and sub folders (labels) are hidden by default at the “bottom of your Gmail account” on the left under “More” . See example screenshot below from the eM Client online documentation.

When you then click More, you can then “right click” on any of your custom folders (labels) and click “Show” on the menu to then show / display them under your Gmail account like online.

Yes, I know. There I found most of my subfolders but not all of them. Also, most of the older ones are empty in EmClient but have emails if I check them online. That’s the problem.

eM Client has limited sync, by default it is 1 month
You can modify this in Settings - YourAccount - IMAP - Sync Options - Message sync period

I already maxed it out from start (having mails from 30+ years ago forced me to do it immediately).

Try to also check folder size limits in gmail server settings https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/fwdandpop
Please set it to Do not limit the number of messages in an IMAP folder
and repair your all mail folder after
Sidebar - longtap All Mail - Properties - scroll down - Repair

I already picked the “Do not limit etc..” from start.
Can’t find the “repair all mail folder” though

I already picked the “Do not limit etc..” from start.

If some Gmail labels still don’t show all your messages in them or show no messages and you have only just added a Gmail account and there is no restriction on the imap limit in Gmail online and no restriction in the imap tab sync settings in the eM Client account setup as @Frantisek_Svarc advised above, then eM Client “could just still be still synching your mail from the server” depending on the size of your online Gmail mailbox.

So next click / highlight your Gmail “All Mail” folder under your account in eM Client, and then click Refresh. Then click the dropdown on the right of Refresh and click “Show Operations” and see if eM Client is still synching your mail.

If it’s still not synching anything after a while, then try clicking on the actual Gmail folder / label “with the missing messages” and then click Refresh again. Then go back to Show Operations and wait to see if that syncs those missing folder / label messages.

If it still doesn’t then sync those missing folder / label messages you might need to try the Repair as @Frantisek_Svarc also advised above which “completely clears the local eM Client message cache” and then “re-downloads your Gmail account messages again from scratch”.

Can’t find the “repair all mail folder” though.

To Repair Gmail “right click” on your “All Mail” folder under your Gmail account in eM Client and click “Properties” at the bottom. Then click the "Repair tab at the top and click “Repair”.

Then click Show Operations and wait till that’s fully completed resynching and then see if those missing Gmail folder / label messages appear.

Note: Before running the repair advise to manually backup eM Client via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can also see when the manual backup is complete in Show Operations.

It looks like the “repair” trick worked! Thank you!
